About the Event

Join us for a night of information, inspiration, and opportunities to support change.  Connecting communities to natural resources is at the core of Sonoran Institute’s mission. For millennia, we humans have instinctively felt that connection to nature improved our spirits and longevity. Only recently has modern research allowed us to quantify the benefits that a stronger connection to nature provides to our health and wellness. In our discussion, Sonoran Institute’s Santa Cruz River director Dr. Luke Cole will discuss recent research on Blue Zones, the effects of trees on student performance, and climate vulnerabilities—tying this research to local initiatives that aim to improve the lives of our Tucson community, wildlife, and ecosystems. Attendees will receive an early invitation to Sonoran Institute’s upcoming river cleanup events and access to our newest (and beautiful) Living River magazine that chronicles the continued improvements to the Santa Cruz River here in Tucson.
